eMusic has two benefits over the competition: it is iPod combatable and works well with any MP3 player, for PC or Mac OS users. They also allow users to download 25 free MP3s within their trial period, and they are complimentary if the user decides not to continue with the service.

imageThese benefits do sound appealing, but the service is mediocre at best, the library available is less than services like Napster , and the cost for each plan is pricey. (See details on chart below.) Even though the cheaper packages have prices as low as $.33 per download, it can not compete to unlimited downloads services, like Napster or even Rhapsody .

Most of the hidden fees are obscured within the TOS fine-print. Despite the negatives, this service is going to be the cheapest option for Mac users, preceding iTunes. It is not the best when it comes to downloading music, but it is not the worst either.
